🏝 Easy Beach Access + Insider Tips

Vilano has several public access points, and you’ve got options depending on how you want to get there:

• Walking: Take a short stroll from the house and you’re there — it’s an easy walk even with kids.
• Golf Cart: We offer a 6-seater golf cart for rent, which is perfect if you’re hauling beach gear or have guests with limited mobility. One of our go-to spots is parking near The Reef Restaurant, then walking straight over to the sand.
• Driving On the Beach: If you’ve got a 4×4 vehicle, Vilano is one of the rare beaches in Florida where you can actually drive right onto the sand. There are two main access points:
  • Near Vilano Publix (a 6-minute drive from the house): You’ll drive on at the access ramp, then park along the dunes and walk to the water (there is a small fee to park on the beach). This area also has public bathrooms and private changing rooms. 
  • Near Porpoise Point (at the corner of Genoa Rd & Porpoise Point Dr): This one’s our favorite — you can drive directly up to the water’s edge and unload everything right where you’re sitting. Plus, the view from here includes the St. Augustine skyline, and it’s absolutely stunning.

Pro Tip: In the summer, 4×4 vehicles need to be off the sand by around 7:30 p.m. (check the posted signs). But even after the cars leave, you can still walk along the shore and catch the sunset. Bring chairs, a drink, and someone you love — it’s one of those moments that just feels magical.
