Boz Scaggs performs at The AMP

American singer, songwriter, and guitarist Boz Scaggs launched his solo career in 1969 after early stints with Steve Miller, ultimately achieving massive success with his 1976 5x-platinum album Silk Degrees, which featured the hit singles “Lido Shuffle” and “Lowdown.” Beyond his own chart-topping success and decades of continuous touring, Scaggs is famously credited with helping catalyze the formation of the rock band Toto. By handpicking future Toto members David Paich, David Hungate, and Jeff Porcaro as his backing band for Silk Degrees and its subsequent tour, Scaggs solidified their musical partnership, leading directly to their record deal with Columbia. This legendary collaboration launched a lifelong creative friendship, highlighted by Paich later contributing to Scaggs’ 2001 album, Dig, and the musicians frequently performing together throughout the decades.
