Restaurant Review: Aunt Kate’s – Fresh Seafood, Waterfront Views & One of Vilano Beach’s Best Sunsets

Whether you’re looking for fresh Florida seafood, waterfront dining, spectacular sunsets, or a true Old Florida atmosphere, Aunt Kate’s Restaurant is a must-visit during your stay in Vilano Beach.
A True Old Florida Waterfront Experience
One of the best things about Aunt Kate’s is the setting. You can choose to dine indoors or enjoy their spacious outdoor deck overlooking the beautiful Tolomato River (Intracoastal Waterway).
We always recommend sitting outside if the weather cooperates. As you enjoy your meal, you’ll watch boats cruise by, see people fishing from the dock, and if you’re lucky, you may even spot dolphins or manatees swimming through the water.
It’s the kind of place where you find yourself slowing down and soaking in the view long after your meal is over.
🌽 Don’t Skip the Cornbread
Before your food even arrives, Aunt Kate’s treats every table to one of our favorite traditions—warm, homemade cornbread.
Even better, they serve several different varieties, all baked fresh and brought to your table warm (and complimentary!). It’s one of those little touches that makes the dining experience feel extra special.
Fresh Seafood & Generous Portions
If you’re craving fresh Florida seafood, Aunt Kate’s won’t disappoint. Their menu is filled with local favorites, including shrimp, fresh fish, oysters, scallops, and other coastal classics that celebrate the flavors of Northeast Florida.
During our latest visit, Derek ordered the fried shrimp, and it was fresh, perfectly cooked, and absolutely delicious.
If you’re in the mood for something lighter, don’t overlook the salads—they’re enormous! I ordered the Cobb Salad, and it was packed with fresh ingredients and easily enough for leftovers the next day. Our friend Dom tried the Snowbird Salad, and he couldn’t stop talking about how good it was.
No matter what you order, be sure to save room (or at least your appetite) for that warm cornbread.
Getting There Is Half the Fun
One of the things we love most about Aunt Kate’s is how easy it is to get there from our properties.

After dinner, don’t rush back. Take a stroll around the restaurant and down by the dock.
Some of the most beautiful sunsets in Vilano Beach can be seen right beside Aunt Kate’s. Watching the sky light up over the Tolomato River while boats drift by is the perfect way to end your evening.
It’s peaceful, relaxing, and one of those moments you’ll remember long after your vacation is over.
Wander & Rest Tip
Plan your dinner about an hour before sunset so you can enjoy the waterfront views during your meal and then head out to the dock afterward as the sky begins to glow. Bring your camera—you’ll want to capture this one!
